Assessment Task: Power Our playground

Your Mission
Your Engineering has been challenged to design and construct a renewable that transforms energy to perform in a useful function in our school.
Throughout this project, you will investigate how energy is transformed, conduct a scientific investigation and use your findings to help develop your creation. You will then plan and produce a prototype by selecting suitable materials and tools and accurately measuring measuring , cutting, bending and joining materials.
What Will I?
By the end of the project , you will be able to?
-Plan and conduct a fair scientific investigation and communicaticate conclusions using data collection.
- Explain how energy transforms from one form to another
- Plan and construct a solution for an identified need or opportunity
- Select and use appropriate materials and tools
- Work, safely, sustainably and collectively during production
How will I show my learning
Activity 1: Energy Investigation
Assessment Type: Formative Assessment - Assessment for learning
During this time your teacher will review your testable questions, investigation method , collected data and conclusion. You will receive feedback about your scientific understanding and investigation skills that you can use when developing your renewable energy resource.
Activity 2: Design and project plan
Assessment Type: Formative + Peer assessment
During this time your teacher will review your annotated design and project plan, providing feedback along the way. Another team will also provide feedback on your proposed solution. You will use the feedback to make improvements before construction begins.
Activity 3: Producing, implementing, testing and reflecting.
Assessment Type: Summative Assessment+ Formative
During this time your teacher will observe safely and competently you selected and used your tools and how accurately you measured, cut, bend and joined materials. As a reflection you will use the success criteria to assess your own prototype, identify stregthens and areas for improvement. Your final design portfolio, completed prototype and 3 min presentation will demonstrate overall learning of the project.

Success Criteria
I can:
Explain an energy transformation, Collect data and communicate scientific evidence, Use evidence to assist with my design, Develop and follow and project plan/design portfolio, Select and safely use tools, accurately construct my prototype, use resources sustainably, collaborate well and evaulate my final product.
What do I submit ?
Submit your design portfolio on google classroom, containing your investigation, data, design sketches, project plan, production evidence and evaluation. your team will also submit your completed prototype and deliver a 3 minute presentation explaining your renewable energy solution.
A investigation planner, design template, project planner and safety checklist will provided to your teams throughout the challenge.
