Stage 3, Work Samples
In work sample One the assessment type is formative assessment for learning, this work sample is used to check students understanding before the investgation and provdie feedback before they begin desiging. It addresses ST3-1WS-S, as students conduct a fair invesgtation, collect and interpret data and students are able to explain how energy is transformed.
For work sample 2 the assessment type is formative assessment and peer feedback the work sample assesses how students use their investigation findings to plan a renewable energy solution for the school. It addresses ST3-2DP-T, as students develop a design, select suitable materials and tools, consider safety and sustainiblity, create a project plan and improve their ideas using peer feedback.
Work sample 3 explores formative, self and summative assessment as part of the final overall assessment task. This work sample assesses students as they construct, test and improve their prototype and evaluates their final learning. It address all 3 areas ST3-2DP-T, ST3-1WS-S and ST3-8PW-ST by evaluating how students produce and improve designs, test and use evidence and explain how energy transformations happen through their prototype.
